New Powell Street opening Le Wagon Rouge Bistro is now open and will be serving beloved French bistro classics along with some more modern items along the way. Eater managed to pin down chef-owner Brad Miller (of the Red Wagon diner - yup, Red Wagon, Wagon Rouge - do you see what he did there?) to talk us through the menu:
It'll be inexpensive, unpretentious and affordable. The way I think a bistro should be. Wines and cocktails lumped in that category too. Eat, drink and be merry. No matter who you are. We're doing some classics like beouf bourguignon, cassoulet, onion soup and escargot to begin. We had a beef cheek and oxtail presse on special last night. Once things ramp up some, I'd like to find a good balance between classics and things that are a little out of the box. We have grilled octopus and potato with chermoula, for example. Stuff like that.Le Wagon Rouge are now open at 1869 Powell Street between 5-10pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
