YALETOWN — Homer Street Bar & Cafe launch their brunch menu tomorrow with a characteristically chicken-y flavour; veteran bartender JS has created a chicken-Caesar, made by infusing Wild Turkey with chicken fat and then garnishing with a chicken skin. On the menu along with brunch standards there are some pleasingly unusual items including rotisserie-sausages and a chicken cobbler. [Eaterwire]
MAIN STREET — Freshly-bottled last night, Powell Street's new distillery the Odd Society have dropped bottles of their first batch of East Van Vodka at the Cascade Room. Made from "100% malted barley grown in BC and proudly blended with purified Vancouver tap water" get down there fast before supplies run dry. [Eaterwire]
CITYWIDE — There are still a few tickets left for #dinnerpartyYVR where 30 hobby chefs across the city will throw open their homes to cook for 4-6 strangers. Tickets are $35 per person and include dinner at a hobby chef's home, plus a glass of beer/wine with dinner and entry to the after-party at Hawkers Market featuring local dessert vendors, a bar, and DJ. MAIN STREET — Acorn are throwing an autumn menu launch party with drinks specials and DJ sets from 10pm -2am. Last year's Harvest menu favourite, the truffle and cheese Orechiette and watercress salad is making a comeback along with new items including an apple and celeriac crepe roulade with aged Cheddar, black garlic and crispy barley. Cocktails echo the fall-theme with plenty of pumpkin and spice notes. [Facebook]
