What do you like to do on your day off? Run the seawall? Laze in bed? Not Vancouver's bright-eyed bartenders. When they have a day off, instead of spending it face down in a bowl of wings, they go to Sunday School to hone their craft under the caring but combative tutelage of H who tends bar at Notturno and was voted 2013 Vancouver Magazine's bartender of the year.
This week blazers are on the menu and bartenders from the Distillery, Fairmont Pacific Rim, La Pentola, the Shebeen, Shameful Tiki Room and Pidgin gathered to learn how to pour liquid fire behind the bar - without need to call the fire department. Eater photographer Robyn Hanson stood well back and captured the action. · Notturno [Official Site]
