SOUTH GRANVILLE— West restaurant has announced a series of Guest Chef and Wine Dinner events starting on Monday October 21 with Pastaga's chef Martin Juneau collaborating with West's Chef Quang Dang to create a five-course tasting menu from B.C. and Québec ingredients. Tickets are $100 plus tax and gratuity. Others in the series include a visit from San Francisco's Coi chef Daniel Patterson, a Painted Rock winery and Louis M. Martini Napa winery dinners. STRATHCONA— Tickets are on sale for the second annual Chocolate Challenge on October 10 at the Gourmet Warehouse. Student cooks and home cooks compete for to win prizes and money raised goes towards the Strathcona Backpack program, which provides food for children in the Downtown Eastside and Strathcona neighbourhoods, filling a "hunger gap" over weekends when school food programs are not available.
