EAST VAN— Newbie distillery, Odd Society Spirits are offering whisky fans the chance to buy their very own 30 litre cask of Canadian single malt made from 100% BC malted barley. The barrel-aging process takes three years and you can visit your whisky for periodic tastings along the way. This will be the distillery's first Single Malt batch and you have until January 31 to raise $1350 to reserve your barrel. Find out more info here. [Eaterwire]
GASTOWN— Celebrate the Year of the Horse with a special Chinese New Year menu at Bambudda which will be served from January 31 until February 9. Keeping with tradition (but putting a western twist, thanks to Chef Scott Korzack), the menu includes three different duck dishes and lucky lettuce wraps. Cocktail whizz, Buck Friend has three fresh CNY-themed creations including a Red Packet, inspired by the traditional red envelopes with burnt cassia bark ember-infused tequila. [Eaterwire]
