The 17th annual Golden Plates Readers Choice was announced this morning and there were few surprises. Best chef is David Hawksworth and best restaurant overall Chambar. The best new restaurant is Homer St. Café and Bar and best use of local ingredients Fable.
So far, so unexpected. However, over on the industry side, where over 100 chefs and restaurateurs are surveyed, things get interesting with Farmer's Apprentice bagging best new restaurant and the Pear Tree's Scott Jaeger voted best chef, and his Burnaby restaurant voted the most underrated restaurant in Metro Vancouver.
