After the usual permit hiccups, La Pentola's Lucais Syme has performed something of a miracle opening his new Cinara restaurant just one day later than planned. Cinara will open for dinner tonight and they'll launch a daily breakfast service from April 8.
"I'm feeling confident," laughed Chef Syme, speaking to us just before opening to a friends and family service. "Always confident! Sure, we've had to run out and get things we forgot today and there were tools all over the floor this morning but we're just trying to relax and enjoy it. Cinara will focus on modern-style European food, with a strong Italian background. We want to cook what we're interested in, whatever is exciting and delicious." Snacks are priced around the $8 mark with mains like duck breast, fermented kamut crêpe, quince, turnip around $24 which Syme describes as 'vegetal and well-balanced'.
