VICTORIA— The 2014 edition of Gold Medal Plates will be held in Victoria on October 30. Ten chefs - three from Vancouver (Darren Brown - Oru, Wesley Young, Wildebeest and Kristian Eligh, Hawksworth) will be competing in the Olympic fundraising event. WEST END— Tickets are on sale now for Food for Thought at Science World in support of Backpack Buddies Program, a charity that provides students in Vancouver's inner city schools with backpacks filled with nutritious food to help sustain them through the weekend. In operation since 2012, the program currently provides over 300 children on a bi-weekly basis with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners plus snacks, yogurt, cheese, and fresh fruit. There are two events that night - the first is an exclusive multi-course dinner with drinks pairings by Cocktails and Canapes, following that at 9p.m. a Cocktail Party for 250 guests with canapés and cocktails as well as live entertainment.
