Sizzling-hot soon-to-launch Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar is bringing ace chef Alex Chen back to his Vancouver hometown after representing Canada at the Bocuse d'Or in Lyon and a six-year stint as Executive Chef at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. With huge hoardings up outside Sutton Place Hotel, this looks set to be major restaurant news for the city thanks to an all-star line-up both front and back of house. Ex-Araxi and Bearfoot restaurant director Steve Edwards is director of operations, ex-YEW head bartender Justin Taylor is on cocktail duties, ex-West legend Brian Hopkins is maitre d', ex-Burdock & Co GM Lisa Haley is joining as wine director plus ex- Daniel Boulud alumnus, Roger Ma will be chef de cuisine and ex- Bearfoot Bistro Jason Pitschke is the pastry chef.
Swathed behind black curtains and hidden from view, we got a sneak peek thanks to a tipster who sent in these photos. Although they are deep in renovation it's already a beautiful bright and light room; blonde wood floors, creamy leather booth seating with charcoal grey contrasting walls.
