Pacific Rim's Grant Sceney to Represent Canada at Diageo World Class in UK Next Month

New, 1 comment

Incredible news for the Vancouver bartending community as two of our own took top honours last night at the Diageo World Class Canada awards at the Vancouver Art Gallery. In front of a roaring crowd of their peers and a trio of cocktail legends, judges Dale DeGroff, Steve Olsen & Tony Abou-Ganim, the Pacific Rim Lobby Lounge bar's Grant Sceney won top prize, going on to represent Canada at World Class in England next month, where 42 nations will battle it out to see who is the very best that the world has to offer in bartending skills.

The Keefer Bar's Gezz McAlpine came a very close first runner-up and Hawksworth Cocktail Bar's Cooper Tardivel won the 'Time to Create' challenge trophy. The final Vancouver entrant, Mike Shum (also from the Lobby Lounge bar) impressed the judges - and everyone watching - after he injured himself in a champagne sabering accident which required medical attention, but he still went on to ace his speed round, making six drinks in eight minutes with a heavily bandaged hand. Call him braveheart and tip him well.
