Hester Creek Estate Winery Garlic Festival; New Fish Restaurant for Granville Island

GRANVILLE ISLAND— Opening this week, the Vancouver Fish Co in the old Whet Bistro spot on Anderson street. The brainchild of a partnership between ex-Fish House in Stanley Park GM and the owners of Nelson Street's Relish Gastro Pub & Bar, they're promising 'amazing seafood and west coast hospitality'. DOWNTOWN— There are still a few tickets left (why??) for the Arts Club fundraiser Chef Meets BC Grape at the Vancouver Convention Centre East tomorrow night from 7-9.30p.m when more than 90 BC wineries will be pouring more than 350 award-winning wines with 15 of BC's best restaurants pairing sweet and savoury bites to show off "why BC food is designed for BC wine." Restaurants include Oru, Forage, Tableau and Miradoro, with wineries including Nk'Mip, Burrowing Owl, Summerhill and Gray Monk. Tickets are $85.[EW]

OKANAGAN—Hester Creek Estate Winery near Oliver is holding their third annual Garlic Festival on Saturday October 4 from 11a.m. till 4p.m. Local garlic growers will be showcasing their best bulbs and "the festival features samples and sales of garlic and other local products; wine and food pairings from Hester Creek and Terrafina Restaurant; live, local entertainment; and much more." Admission by donation to the Farm to Table Lunch Program at Oliver elementary school. [EW]
